Dell Technologies officially announced the Dell 14S laptop for the Japanese market. The company announced a 4-color lineup and slim body, along with a 16GB model, and indicated that it plans to add an 8GB model later. It also announced the start of sales.
Dell Technologies held a new-product launch event in Tokyo, officially announcing the product and the start of sales in Japan. At the event, the company set out three pillars for the Japanese market: strengthening its product lineup, expanding sales channels, and enhancing the customer experience, outlining its strategy based on its track record in domestic AI PC shipments.
The new Dell 14S comes in 4 colors. Its slim body measures 12.2mm at its thinnest point and 13.7mm at its thickest, and it features a large 14-inch display and approximately 21 hours of battery life. Sales of the 16GB model have begun, and the addition of an 8GB model was announced for a later date.
In addition to its lower memory capacity, the 8GB model will use Wi-Fi 6/Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless connectivity, compared with Wi-Fi 6E/Bluetooth 5.4 on the 16GB model, in a design intended to reduce costs. Basic specifications include an Intel Core Series 3 CPU, with the entry-level configuration featuring a Core i5 320, 16GB of memory, 256GB of storage, a 14-inch display with 1920×1200 resolution, and a weight of approximately 1.15kg.
As a launch promotion, the direct-sale price of the entry-level configuration has been reduced by ¥45,000, from ¥194,800 to ¥149,800. Compared with the XPS 13, it is differentiated by a cost-focused design without a touch panel and with an aluminum chassis, while the inclusion of an HDMI port and 3.5mm audio output was emphasized.
