Corporate funding demand DI came in at plus 3 in the Bank of Japan's October Senior Loan Officer Opinion Survey on Bank Lending Practices at Major Banks, indicating that demand increased even as gradual rate hikes proceeded.
The results of the October Senior Loan Officer Opinion Survey on Bank Lending Practices at Major Banks, released by the Bank of Japan on the 22nd as part of its quarterly publication, showed that more respondents reported an increase in corporate funding demand, bringing the funding demand DI to plus 3.
The survey measures corporate funding demand as the difference between responses indicating an "increase" and those indicating a "decrease" or "no change." As of October, responses indicating an "increase" outnumbered those indicating a "decrease."
The results suggest that corporate funding demand has been maintained and expanded to some extent even as the Bank of Japan continues gradual rate hikes.
