The doctoral career café “Career Development Through ‘Sowing Seeds’” was held on 20 October 2026 as a joint program by Doshisha University and Rikkyo University, based on a mutual cooperation and partnership agreement concluded by the relevant institutions. The event marked its second session, with Okabe Tadaaki (岡部格明), who completed the doctoral program at Doshisha University Graduate School and now serves as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Business Data Science at Kansai University, invited as the lecturer.
Drawing on his research activities as a doctoral student, experience during his JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship, work as a part-time lecturer and knowledge gained through multiple projects, Okabe discussed the importance of networking and his own areas for improvement, using specific personal anecdotes.
Approximately 50 people from Doshisha University and Rikkyo University participated online. Participants shared reflections on the importance of interpersonal communication and the value of taking action to nurture the “seeds” that create serendipitous opportunities.
The two universities indicated that they will continue to deepen their research collaboration, including support for early-career researchers, under the agreement.
