According to the latest survey by Dell Technologies, Japanese companies are moving beyond the initial stage of generative AI adoption and toward generating results. More companies are prioritising proven results and risk management plans, with a focus on establishing the capabilities needed for execution.
Dell Technologies announced that Japanese companies are moving beyond the early-to-mid stages of generative AI adoption and into the late stage. 58% of Japanese companies have reached this stage, advancing to a level close to the APJC average. Accordingly, clear evidence of business results and risk management plans have become requirements for 72% of companies when making decisions on AI investment. Companies also cite execution capabilities, talent, infrastructure, governance and security as challenges to scaling AI deployment.
Compared with the APJC region as a whole, Japanese companies place greater emphasis on data analytics and decision support, followed by security and threat detection. This suggests that companies are increasingly using AI not merely as an efficiency tool, but to support decision-making and strengthen risk management. Dell has outlined a policy of supporting the generation of results with AI through infrastructure, data foundations and its ecosystem.
