HRC US of Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has unveiled the Honda Passport Baja Spec for the Baja 1000. The off-road-only vehicle was jointly developed with Mason Motorsports and features a prototype-derived 2.4L V6 twin-turbo and 800V hybrid system delivering more than 1,300 horsepower in total.
Honda Motor Co., Ltd.'s North American division, HRC US, has unveiled the new Honda Passport Baja Spec off-road vehicle, which will compete in the Trophy Truck class of the SCORE World Desert Championship held on Mexico's Baja California Peninsula. The announcement was made at a public event around 29 October 2026, with the name to be announced locally and the vehicle scheduled for a further public showing at the upcoming SEMA Show.
At the vehicle's core is a power unit combining the 2.4-litre V6 twin-turbo engine used in the Acura ARX-06 with an 800V hybrid system, delivering total system output of more than 1,300 horsepower. A Masomatic 5-speed transmission is mounted at the front, with drive transmitted to the front and rear wheels through an AWD transaxle and portal gears.
Development is being carried out jointly by HRC US and Mason Motorsports. The vehicle uses a Gen 2 4WD chassis, an aerodynamic body designed using CFD, and a carbon-fibre safety fuel cell, with its weight concentrated toward the rear. Bryce Menzies will drive the vehicle, which is scheduled to make its competition debut at the 2027 Baja 500 and then target overall victory in the Baja 1000 in November.
HRC US is developing the vehicle for the Baja 1000, which will mark its 60th anniversary in 2027. The company plans to continue updating it as a software-defined vehicle after its public debut and testing at the SEMA Show.
The Honda Passport Baja Spec has been positioned as part of the history of the Baja and HRC US's motorsports strategy.
