Fujikura raised its full-year forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 for the second time. Against a backdrop of rising data center demand, it raised its operating profit forecast to ¥432.0 billion.
Fujikura (5803) announced its consolidated results for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027 on the 7th and raised its full-year earnings forecasts from the previous plan. First-quarter revenue rose 50.1% year on year to ¥402.0 billion, operating profit was 2.6 times higher at ¥104.8 billion, and net income increased 156.8% to ¥80.4 billion, each reaching a record high on a quarterly basis.
The information and communications business was the main contributor to the strong results. Its first-quarter revenue was ¥264.4 billion and operating profit was ¥98.0 billion, while its operating margin improved sharply from 23.6% to 37.0%. The increase was driven by growing demand for optical component products for data centers and the acquisition of new data center projects outside the United States.
The company raised its full-year operating profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 from ¥310.0 billion to ¥432.0 billion, its revenue forecast from ¥1.462 trillion to ¥1.755 trillion, and its net income forecast from ¥229.0 billion to ¥326.0 billion. The annual dividend forecast was unchanged at ¥38.
In June, the company also revised its forecasts upward against a backdrop of growing demand for optical components driven by data center demand. The latest revision was made approximately 50 days later. The impact of the hydrogen shortage is easing, and sales of optical connectors and racks for server storage are running ahead of plan.
