With the Tokyo market closed and catalysts scarce, dollar-yen was almost unchanged around ¥157.80. Although crude oil prices fell sharply from the previous day, the dollar was difficult to sell against this backdrop, and trading was subdued.
In Tokyo trading on the afternoon of the 3rd, dollar-yen traded almost unchanged around ¥157.80. Trading was subdued amid the market holiday, a lack of catalysts and uncertainty ahead of the US midterm elections.
Although crude oil prices fell sharply from the previous day, skepticism about stabilization in the Middle East also made it difficult to sell the dollar, leaving the dollar broadly without a clear direction.
The trading ranges so far were ¥157.79–¥157.96 for dollar-yen, ¥176.52–¥176.76 for euro-yen and 1.1177–1.1197 for euro-dollar.
