HKS has added a Φ94.0 piston ring set as a new mechanism for its TYPE-LF piston kit. The design narrows the TOP ring's passage area and reduces the gap, while also revising the structures of the 2ND and OIL rings in pursuit of durability and low friction.

For the TOP ring, the gas passage area at room temperature is reduced by approximately 27% from the previous design, while the end gap is reduced by approximately 88% at the high temperatures reached during operation. A material with approximately 37% higher thermal conductivity is used to improve cooling performance and limit wear in the ring grooves.
The 2ND ring has an end gap approximately 25% larger than before, reducing second-land pressure and improving the sealing force of the TOP ring. The OIL ring has been changed from the conventional 2-piece design to a 3-piece structure, reducing tension by approximately 10% to suppress friction while preventing an excessive increase in oil consumption.
