Rohto Pharmaceutical announced that it had entered into a strategic partnership with OASES, the Hong Kong government’s investment promotion agency, becoming the first Japanese company to become a strategic enterprise partner of the agency. The partnership is expected to accelerate the company’s expansion in Asia through ARHK.
On 23 October 2026, Rohto Pharmaceutical signed an agreement with OASES, the Hong Kong government’s investment promotion agency, to enter into a strategic partnership and become a strategic enterprise partner of the agency. This is the first such partnership between the Hong Kong government and a Japanese company.
OASES provides individually tailored support to companies selected by the Hong Kong government as they enter the Hong Kong market or expand their businesses there, with the aim of establishing Hong Kong as an innovation hub in Asia. The partnership recognizes Rohto Pharmaceutical’s expertise in the healthcare and medical fields and its efforts to create value over the medium to long term.
Rohto Pharmaceutical established ARHK, its subsidiary, at Hong Kong Science Park in January 2019. ARHK serves as a hub for advancing regenerative medicine and stem cell research, as well as clinical research, development and regulatory approvals in ophthalmology, dermatology and orthopedics.
Going forward, the company aims to position Hong Kong as one of its strategic business and co-creation hubs, apply the knowledge and technologies accumulated at ARHK to its own healthcare business, and develop businesses that address health and longevity challenges in Asia and around the world.
