Hmcomm has announced a strategic investment policy to accelerate the development of VAAP, its next-generation voice AI platform. In addition to in-house development, the company will pursue external partnerships as it seeks to build a voice AI ecosystem originating in Japan.
As the adoption of generative AI continues to gain momentum, demand for automation using voice interfaces is rising. Against this backdrop, Hmcomm has indicated that it plans to transition from a platform based solely on its own products to one that also incorporates technologies developed by other companies.
The strategic investment policy will seek to maximize VAAP’s value across 4 priority areas: first, strengthening VAAP’s core technologies and functionality; second, expanding the agents registered on its Marketplace; third, integrating with AI-native SaaS; and fourth, building a pipeline for future M&A.
The company expects investment of several million yen to approximately ¥30 million per company, and will establish an annual investment framework of approximately ¥100 million to ¥300 million. The investments will be funded from internal resources and implemented through flexible arrangements, including capital alliances, business alliances and joint development.
The policy represents the rollout of a platform strategy based on co-creation with partners. Hmcomm aims to incorporate acquired technologies and agents specializing in specific domains into its own platform, thereby increasing the value provided to each customer and expanding ARR.
