真田, a dried-foods manufacturer in the Kansai region, is conducting food education activities in partnership with local farmers and kindergartens in Kyotango, Kyoto Prefecture. As the first program, it held a sweet potato harvesting event on 23 October, attended by approximately 40 children aged 3 to 5 from Koryu Niji Kodomoen. The children took part in harvesting sweet potatoes whose planting and growth they had been observing.
The organizers and partners in the activity include Seeds Farm, which produces and sells sweet potatoes. Through the harvest, the children experienced the crop production process. The harvested produce is scheduled to be processed into dried sweet potatoes at 真田’s plant.
