DM三井製糖 announced that it had signed sponsorship and advisory agreements with Suzuki Kengo (鈴木 健吾), the former Japanese record holder in the men’s marathon. The company said it would use its expertise in sugar and nutrition to contribute to new discoveries.
DM三井製糖 announced on 2 September that it had signed sponsorship and advisory agreements with Suzuki Kengo (鈴木 健吾) of the Yokohama City Athletics Association. The agreements are intended to explore new possibilities in sports nutrition and energy replenishment by combining the company’s expertise in sugar research and product development with the practical knowledge of a top athlete.
Suzuki (鈴木) set a Japanese record of 2:04:56 at the 2021 Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon. He was subsequently selected to represent Japan at the 2022 World Championships, but withdrew shortly before the event because of poor health. He has also experienced periods of injury during his competitive career.
He left Fujitsu in October 2025 and turned professional. At the Tokyo Marathon in March, he finished 13th and second among Japanese runners, securing a place in the MGC, the selection race for the Los Angeles Olympics. In his personal life, he has reported his marriage and the birth of his first son.
Suzuki (鈴木) commented that “nutrition and energy replenishment, from daily preparation through race day and conditioning, are important elements that support athletic performance.” He said he wanted to combine the DM Mitsui Group’s research expertise with his own experience to contribute to new discoveries.
