The Nikkei average fell. In the U.S. market, selling in semiconductor and large-cap technology stocks prevailed, and the decline temporarily widened before narrowing toward the afternoon session. Overall, the market showed resilience even as concerns over AI-related investments and financial risks remained in focus.
SoftBank Group was reported to be considering the acquisition of U.S. security company Allied Universal, with the total acquisition value potentially reaching approximately $30 billion, including debt. Chairman and CEO Masayoshi Son is reportedly looking to link expanded investment in AI with its application in the security industry.
Mitsubishi Electric announced plans to transfer 50% of the issued shares of its automotive equipment business to Taiwan-based Hon Hai Precision Industry. The investment from Hon Hai is expected to total approximately ¥115 billion and is expected to contribute to the development of EV platforms and strengthen its autonomous-driving business.
