At DC Fintech Week in the United States, Hashed presented the regulatory environment and institutionalization roadmap for South Korea's digital asset market. South Korea emphasized efforts to align its domestic regulatory framework with international standards.
Hashed spoke at DC Fintech Week in Washington, D.C., explaining the growth of South Korea's digital asset market and regulators' cautious approach. Examples cited included digital asset payments, the tokenization of real-world assets, the institutionalization of won-denominated stablecoins and the CBDC pilot project "Project Hangang."
The session identified the Digital Asset Basic Act, second-phase virtual asset legislation, stablecoins, security tokens, RWAs and changes in payment infrastructure as key examples of South Korea's institutionalization efforts. It was stated that regulatory design must take into account both global trends and the characteristics of the South Korean market.
Global financial and digital asset stakeholders, including Michael Saylor, Terry Duffy and Paolo Ardoino, attended the event. Topics included the structure and regulation of digital asset markets, increased participation by institutional investors, and payment and custody infrastructure. The South Korean side expressed its intention to actively promote international regulatory alignment and the development of standards.
Hashed stated that it will continue engaging with policymakers, financial institutions and the blockchain industry, and will serve as a bridge between the institutionalization of digital assets in South Korea and international standards. It was also stated that industry-led efforts to establish standards are active in international markets and that South Korea's active participation in the debate will be important.
