The Nikkei continued to fall in the Tokyo market on the morning of the 2nd. Kioxia's earnings outlook triggered a sharp drop in its share price, temporarily widening the Nikkei's decline to nearly ¥600.
The Nikkei 225 continued to fall in the Tokyo stock market on the morning of the 2nd. As of the morning close, TOPIX and the JPX Prime 150 Index had also continued to decline. There were many decliners on the TSE Prime market as of the morning close, and trading overall was somewhat active. The Nikkei stood in the ¥63,095 range at the morning close, down around 0.3%. Performance varied among the stocks held, and some buying back was seen after the decline had run its course.
The biggest factor was the performance of semiconductor-related stocks, with Kioxia plunging after missing its earnings outlook. Selling was prompted by the quarterly earnings outlook coming in below market expectations. Kioxia fell more than 17% at one point, reaching its lowest level since April. This temporarily widened the Nikkei's decline to nearly ¥600.
