中電プラント has built a platform for storing findings and good practices identified during safety patrols as digital data and using them across sites. The introduction of an automated report-conversion function has significantly reduced the workload involved in preparing reports.
As a background to the initiative, findings on hazardous locations and good practices identified in the field had been recorded by hand or in photographs. However, sharing across sites had not progressed sufficiently, and preparing reports was also burdensome. To address these issues, a trial operation using SpectA KY-Tool was launched.
The previous practice of using handwritten notes and camera records was replaced with taking photographs and registering comments on smartphones. Report preparation was also changed so that registered content is automatically converted into report format, without using PCs or paper.
Over 4 months, more than 300 findings and good practices from 2 sites in total were stored as digital data, establishing a data platform that can be viewed and used across sites. The data can also be used for daily safety patrols and training.
Going forward, the results of this initiative will be expanded to all sites. By sharing and passing on field observations throughout the organization, 中電プラント aims to eradicate similar incidents while also addressing issues such as overtime-work regulations and labor shortages.
SpectA KY-Tool is a cloud-based solution that uses past knowledge and AI to support both safety quality and operational efficiency in the field, from recording findings in site photographs and entering them by voice through to preparing reports.
