The “XR” premium line from world-renowned winery Marqués de Riscal was launched in Japan as the brand's first year-round product. The new product for the Japanese market is the winery's first in 10 years.
World-renowned Rioja winery Marqués de Riscal of Spain has launched the new Marqués de Riscal XR for the Japanese market. Sales began through Sapporo Breweries in September, as the company promoted a strategy centred on “essential luxury” beyond the premium segment.
A tasting seminar explained the importance of understanding the brand's history and values when making a selection, and introduced the background to Rioja's founding and the intentions behind the brand's development.
The newly launched XR is a premium-range Tinto Reserva made with grapes from old vines and aged for extended periods in barrels and bottles. The XR on the label is said to signify the highest quality of barrels. The wine is characterised by concentrated fruit flavours from low-yielding grapes.
XR comes in a 750ml bottle, has an alcohol content of 14.5% and is sold at an open price.
