Dubai crude futures on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange edged higher, with the opening price for the benchmark March contract up ¥180 from the previous weekend at ¥98,200. Buying led trading during the day as concern over the situation in the Middle East intensified.
US and European crude oil prices generally rose last weekend, with Brent crude futures reaching their highest level since 29 April. Related-market crude oil index futures responded to the move.
However, there were no transactions in electricity, gasoline, LNG or CME crude oil index futures on the Osaka Exchange, limiting trading opportunities for physical-market investors.
