The 19-year-old owner had an Autech Style A S15 Silvia tuned to produce up to approximately 380 ps through a durability-focused bolt-on turbo conversion. Esprit representative Maekawa provides a detailed explanation of the technical background and component configuration.
This S15 Silvia aims for a 150% increase over the standard model. Based on an S-base model equipped with an SR20DE, the 19-year-old owner commissioned Esprit to tune the car. With durability as its top priority, Esprit proposed a bolt-on turbo setup and adopted a design intended to preserve torque and response in the naturally aspirated range, where boost cannot be expected.
The SR20DE cylinder block was retained, while the pistons were replaced with DET units, the connecting rods with standard DET parts, and the head gasket with a 1.6 mm metal gasket. The compression ratio was set at 9.8:1. An HKS GT-RS turbocharger was used and controlled by an F-CON V Pro, with the configuration producing 350–380 ps at a maximum boost of 1.2k.
The intake system uses the standard DE throttle body. The exhaust system uses an 80φ front pipe and a provisional 60φ center pipe retained from the naturally aspirated specification. A one-off 80φ main pipe is planned for the future, with the stated aim of reducing exhaust restriction.
The suspension uses Blitz ZZ-R Spec C monotube dampers with 32-stage damping adjustment, while brake capacity at both ends has also been upgraded. The interior has a black-and-tan two-tone design, dedicated tan leather front seats, and oil-pressure, boost, and oil-temperature gauges placed throughout the cabin.
