Following analysts’ upward revisions to Roku’s earnings forecasts, revenue and profit growth are expected, while intensifying competition and volatility in the advertising market remain challenges ahead.
The key issue for Roku shares is whether the company’s TV operating system can remain at the centre of the shift away from cable and whether its advertising tools can attract advertisers. Revenue depends more heavily on advertising than on devices, and some view short-term fluctuations as continuing to be driven by advertising demand.
The latest data show upward revisions to profit forecasts related to Roku, with profit expected to grow faster than revenue. The market has been given the indication that management intends to expand advertising and platform revenue while keeping costs under control.
Analysts expect annual revenue growth of approximately 12.8% through 2029, with revenue reaching approximately US$7.5 billion and net income approximately US$868.4 million. One valuation also indicates 6% upside from the current share price.
However, competition is expected to intensify from Amazon, Google, Apple and Walmart/Vizio, among others, making Roku’s ability to execute its plans and remain profitable the focus going forward.
