Nippon Steel announced that consolidated net profit for the fiscal year ending March 2027 is expected to reach ¥440 billion, 26 times the previous fiscal year's level. The company raised its previous forecast, citing U.S. Steel's solid performance, which is expected to exceed its assumptions. Net profit is also expected to benefit from tax credits related to capital investment in the United States.
Revenue is expected to rise 16% year on year to ¥11.7 trillion, while business profit is forecast to increase 40% to ¥720 billion. These represent upward revisions of ¥500 billion and ¥90 billion, respectively.
In the consolidated results for the April-September 2026 period, revenue increased 26% year on year to ¥5.8441 trillion, while the final balance was in the low ¥260 billion range, representing a profit. The upward revision is attributed largely to U.S. Steel's contribution to earnings.
The growth in U.S. Steel's earnings is expected to drive an increase in overall profit, leading to a substantial upward revision to Nippon Steel's net profit forecast.
