Apple announced HomeView, a 7-inch smart-home display. Its features include facial recognition for up to 6 people and Siri AI, with a US price of USD 299 and a launch date of 13 November; the Japan launch date has not been determined.
Apple announced a new smart-home display, HomeView. It combines a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with a stand-style body and a dome-shaped speaker, and supports music playback, FaceTime calls, appliance control and viewing home-camera footage. At the time of the announcement, pre-orders in the United States were scheduled to begin the same day, with launch planned for 13 November. The Japan launch schedule has not been determined.
Its main feature is facial recognition, which allows up to 6 people to be registered, with each person's home-screen layout and apps switchable individually. It is designed as a family shared display. When handling personal information, proximity to a compatible iPhone or iPad and unlocking are required, and the privacy-protection mechanism was explained.
The new voice assistant Siri AI, equipped with Siri AI, enhances more natural conversation and understanding of personal information compared with the previous version. When used with an iPhone or iPad, it can refer to calendars, messages and Apple Music playlists to provide answers, and can also operate across multiple apps. Conversation history is synced privately through iCloud.
The 7-inch display supports True Tone and automatically adjusts brightness according to ambient light. Its design shows more detailed content when the user approaches and simpler content when the user moves away. It is available in wall-mounted and standard versions, in 2 colors, with both models priced at USD 299. It connects with HomeKit- and Matter-compatible smart devices, supports simultaneous display of footage from up to 9 home cameras, and supports Home Collection-compatible products.
