SBI Holdings and Startale Group have joined Open Standard, which promotes the provision and adoption of the USD-pegged stablecoin Open USD (OUSD). They are advancing a pilot plan to examine interoperability between Japan's JPYSC and OUSD.
SBI Holdings and Startale Group announced that, as members of Open Standard, they would participate in initiatives to promote the adoption of Open USD (OUSD). They are considering a pilot project to examine interoperability between Japan's JPYSC and OUSD.
Following enactment of the GENIUS Act, the development of blockchain-based financial infrastructure, including on-chain payments, has been advancing rapidly. In Japan, efforts are under way to expand the use of JPYSC and develop trading platforms for institutional investors.
Open Standard was launched in June 2026 and has more than 200 global companies participating. It aims to make payments and transactions between Japan and the United States more efficient using yen- and US dollar-denominated stablecoins.
Going forward, the companies aim to improve international liquidity and expand the use of stablecoins across various on-chain finance fields by conducting pilots to verify interoperability between JPYSC and OUSD. SBI Chairman and CEO Kitao (喜多尾) and Startale CEO Watanabe (渡邊) have each stated that their respective initiatives would help expand the scope of financial services.
