Japan Post Bank announced a capital and business alliance with Matsui Securities and approved on the same day its policy of acquiring shares from its major shareholder, 丸五. By combining its nationwide branch network with online brokerage expertise, it will expand its asset management offering structure.
Japan Post Bank disclosed that its board of directors had approved, on the same date, a capital and business alliance with Matsui Securities and the acquisition of shares from 丸五. This will strengthen the capital relationship between the two companies while also establishing the practical framework for the alliance.
The aim of the alliance is to expand the distribution of asset management products by combining Japan Post Bank’s customer base of approximately 100 million accounts with Matsui Securities’ strengths in online brokerage services, including stocks, investment trusts, foreign exchange and customer support.
The alliance is positioned as a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening Japan Post Bank’s asset management business. The parties are expected to expand their asset management offering structure through JPAM and increase customer touchpoints in the retail investment businesses of both companies.
