GPTZero, a young AI-detection startup, was acquired by Superhuman to strengthen its AI-detection capabilities. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but publicly available information has revealed the scale of its user base and revenue.
AI-detection startup GPTZero is coming under Superhuman’s control. It was founded by Edward Tian during his research at Princeton University, and the acquisition is expected to lead to AI-detection capabilities being incorporated into Superhuman’s integrated platform.
Tian told Business Insider that GPTZero has more than 19 million registered users and approximately $30 million in annual recurring revenue. Its funding to date includes a $3.5 million seed round and a $10 million Series A, with Reach Capital, Jack Altman of Alto Capital, and Neo among its investors.
Grammarly acquired Superhuman last year and integrated it, and its platform already includes AI-detection capabilities. The acquisition is intended to combine AI-detection and content-authenticity verification capabilities, providing users with more reliable safeguards.
The terms of the deal have not been officially disclosed, but people familiar with the matter said the company is expected to expand its tools for addressing AI-generated text and strengthen efforts to discourage the use of low-quality AI.
