HIOKI E.E. CORPORATION has started GHG emissions accounting training for business partners as part of its efforts to decarbonise the entire supply chain. The training will be conducted on an ongoing basis with the cooperation of SGS Japan, a third-party verification body. The training is being conducted against the backdrop of the company’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality for Scope 3 emissions by 2035. Details of the training were published on 16 September.
The training covers understanding GHGs and emissions accounting standards, learning methods for calculating Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, planning emissions reduction measures, establishing a primary data collection system, and sharing the latest developments in decarbonisation management. The company aims to support improvements in suppliers’ ability to manage GHG emissions and promote the adoption of emissions accounting standards, thereby advancing reduction activities across the entire supply chain.
The company plans to continue its education and training programmes, with the aim of obtaining by 2030 the primary data required to calculate Scope 3 emissions from its major business partners. It also plans to deepen dialogue with business partners and pursue both improvements in GHG data quality and emissions reductions.
