高田機工 has revised its current-year ordinary profit/loss forecast downward, now expecting a loss. Ordinary profit/loss for the fiscal year ending March 2027 is expected to change from the previously forecast profit to a loss, while the first-half outlook also calls for a wider loss.
On 30 October, 高田機工 revised its current-year ordinary profit/loss forecast downward after the market close. The previous forecast for ordinary profit/loss for the fiscal year ending March 2027, a ¥320 million profit, was revised to a ¥430 million loss, resulting in an expected loss exceeding the ¥300 million loss recorded in the previous fiscal year.
Ordinary profit/loss for the April–September period, the first half, is also expected to widen from the previously forecast ¥270 million loss to a ¥500 million loss.
The company explained that the revision reflects an expected shortfall in profit, as higher-than-expected costs continued to swell amid persistently weak orders for its core new steel bridge construction business, while increases in selling, general and administrative expenses also had an impact.
Based on its interim earnings position, the company revised its full-year forecast and said that its reform and cost-cutting measures are expected to gain full momentum from the second half.
