SBI Holdings has signed a memorandum of understanding with U.S.-based CRB Group and is considering establishing a joint venture in Japan. The companies aim to build next-generation financial infrastructure, including AI-agent payments, cross-border remittances and the use of JPYSC.
On 28 October 2026, SBI Holdings signed a memorandum of understanding with CRB Group, the parent company of U.S.-based Cross River Bank, regarding a strategic business partnership and the establishment of a joint venture in Japan. The companies will consider building next-generation financial infrastructure, including payments by AI agents, stablecoins and cross-border remittances.
Specifically, the companies plan to establish a joint venture in Japan and provide financial services in Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. In addition to considering the development of a payments infrastructure for “agentic commerce,” in which AI agents handle product selection and purchase procedures, the companies will work on international payments using banking and payments infrastructure, as well as the digitization of real-world assets, or the tokenization of RWA.
The introduction of the yen-denominated stablecoin JPYSC is also under consideration. Potential uses include transactions for institutional investors, international transactions and payments for tokenized assets, with deployment in Japan and the APAC region planned through the SBI Group’s sales network. Going forward, the execution of definitive agreements and regulatory approvals from the relevant authorities are expected to be requirements.
