Duskin, Energy Gateway and TEPCO Power Grid will begin offering the new electricity-based monitoring service, which uses electricity consumption data to track changes in older adults’ daily lives, at Duskin Life Care locations in the Tokyo area from 15 September 2026.
The service uses electricity consumption data collected by a power sensor installed in the distribution board of an older adult’s home to make signs of changes in daily life visible based on appliance-specific usage. Without using cameras or wearable devices, users can check appliance-specific usage almost in real time through the family monitoring platform “ienowa,” and receive notifications of changes in daily life and various alerts. The service also includes regular visits by Duskin Life Care staff and aims to provide peace of mind to family members.
The 3 companies jointly planned and developed the electricity-based monitoring service by combining their respective strengths. The analysis uses Energy Gateway’s technology for estimating the usage of individual appliances to estimate the usage of major appliances based on electricity consumption data. The service also incorporates research findings from TEPCO Power Grid and the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center.
The service combines visibility into appliance usage, notifications through a dedicated app, the Lifestyle ME+ peace-of-mind check feature, and regular visits by Duskin Life Care staff, enabling family members living separately to track changes in the user’s daily life. The service will be launched on 15 September 2026 and will be available at Duskin Life Care locations in the Tokyo area.
The fee is ¥3,960 per month for 3 years, comprising a ¥1,705 service fee plus ¥2,255 for the sensor unit and installation, payable in 36 monthly installments. From the fourth year onward, the fee is ¥1,705 per month, consisting only of the service fee. Depending on the installation environment, a Wi-Fi router usage fee or additional equipment costs may be charged separately.
