The 4 companies are participating in Japan's first taxi film festival, “TAXIATER,” and will operate specially equipped vehicles to coincide with Taxi Day on 5 August. The initiative will also offer short films for viewing inside the vehicles and special displays on the in-vehicle window signage.
The vehicles will operate from Monday, 3 August to Sunday, 9 August 2026, with 100 vehicles serving Tokyo's 23 wards, Musashino and Mitaka. The fleet will comprise 3 wrapped vehicles and 97 Canvas-equipped vehicles.
Passengers will receive instructions on how to view the films inside the vehicle and can choose and watch their preferred film from the 3 available immediately after boarding. Designated rides can be booked through the “TAXIATER” icon in the upper-right corner of the S.RIDE app screen. Wrapped vehicles cannot be specifically requested and will be assigned at random.
The first 5,000 passengers will receive an original ride certificate. All films can be viewed for a limited time using the QR code on the certificate. The films will also be screened simultaneously at 3 theaters in Tokyo from 15 to 29 August.
