A survey of data utilization and business systems integration at midsized companies has been published, highlighting misaligned update timing as a key challenge. Meanwhile, most respondents emphasized the importance of automatic updates at the frequency required for their operations, and the shift toward consolidating systems is gaining momentum.
A survey of employees responsible for data utilization at midsized companies found that 61.6% said it was difficult to check the latest status because update timing was not synchronized across multiple systems. Manual data aggregation was common, at 39.8%, while automatic updates remained relatively uncommon, at 34.4%. Meanwhile, more than 80% of respondents said they were “satisfied” with data utilization, while 54.1% believed it was difficult to manage connections, updates and permissions using generative AI alone.
The survey found that the most important factor when selecting data utilization tools was “a wide range of graphs and screen presentations,” cited by 53.5% of respondents, followed by “ease of operation” at 44.2%. As the criterion for determining whether systems integration is suitable for business use, “the ability to update automatically at the frequency required for operations” was the most common response, at 57.1%.
Looking ahead, approximately half of respondents selected the option of retaining their current business systems while using data centrally going forward (45.9%), indicating that an integrated data platform could be effective in resolving current challenges.
