The Nikkei 225 closed ¥850 higher than the previous day, marking its fifth consecutive day of gains. Continued buying of AI-related and semiconductor stocks, along with notable gains in bank stocks, supported the market.
The Nikkei 225 closed at ¥66,364.20 on the 25th, up ¥850.21 from the previous day, marking its fifth consecutive day of gains. It was the first time since the 7th of this month that the closing price had returned to the ¥66,000 range.
Buying of AI-related and semiconductor stocks lifted the market, while the upward trend in long-term interest rates notably supported gains in bank stocks. More than 70% of stocks listed on the TSE Prime Market rose.
The Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX) rose 53.29 points to 4,128.59.
The day's market gains are viewed as having been driven mainly by a broad rise in AI- and semiconductor-related stocks, with gains in financial stocks also supporting the market.
