The yen's strengthening trend continued yesterday, with EUR/JPY trading mainly around the mid-¥185 range. Remarks by an ECB Executive Board member on raising interest rates are attracting market attention.
Yesterday (26 August 2026), EUR/JPY was driven by the yen's strengthening trend, with the yen strengthening in the morning in line with USD/JPY movements. The subsequent rebound was limited, and EUR/JPY ended trading with the yen stronger than at the close on 25 August. Although Japan's corporate services price index exceeded market expectations, EUR/JPY showed no significant reaction. ECB Executive Board member Schnabel suggested that rates need to be raised against a backdrop of inflation risks.
Today (27 August 2026), the EUR/JPY order book showed particularly heavy buy orders around ¥185. Heavy buying was also concentrated near the cloud support line, with heavy buy orders observed around the mid-¥184 range. Meanwhile, sell orders were heavy around ¥187, which is being watched as resistance, and sell orders were also observed around the upper-¥185 range. These developments suggest that support and resistance levels warrant close attention.
