Poplar raised its forecast for consolidated ordinary profit for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending February 2027 from the previous forecast of ¥140 million to ¥200 million. The full-year forecast is unchanged from the previous forecast.
According to Poplar's revision to its consolidated results forecast for the cumulative second quarter, ordinary profit is expected to rise from the previous forecast of ¥140 million to ¥200 million, narrowing the year-on-year decline in profit. Meanwhile, the full-year ordinary profit forecast remains unchanged at the previous level of ¥250 million.
Existing-store sales in the second quarter remained firm at 101.9% year on year, while operating revenue is expected to come in slightly below the previous forecast due to delays in the timing of new store openings and other factors. On the earnings front, although results were affected by higher raw material prices and labor costs, the factory division's external retail and frozen food businesses performed above plan.
The factory division's stronger-than-expected profit offset the impact of higher costs and weaker store sales, resulting in an upward revision to ordinary profit for the current fiscal year. Poplar said it will make a timely disclosure if circumstances arise that require a revision to its full-year earnings forecast.
