US President Trump stressed that construction of a semiconductor plant in New York State, backed by Japanese investment in the United States, would “revitalise the US industrial base and create jobs.” The investment is said to be positioned as part of $550 billion in investment and financing in the United States.
Trump cited the construction of a semiconductor plant in New York State as part of investment and financing agreed under tariff negotiations with Japan, explaining that it would help revitalise the US industrial base and create jobs.
He explained that the investment would generate a total of 27,000 jobs in construction and related supply chains, as well as more than 1,000 manufacturing jobs requiring advanced skills.
He also argued that the project would strengthen national security, presenting the results as stemming from a historic agreement that he had led.
In a post, Trump claimed that investments from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan were being linked to major construction projects, touting their contribution to increased semiconductor production, energy security and job growth.
