Shizuoka Prefecture held a meeting on the 14th to integrate company attraction and land provision, confirming a policy of accelerating efforts to increase the number of business locations.
Shizuoka Prefecture held a meeting on the 14th to integrate company attraction and land provision as part of its efforts to become Japan's leading prefecture for business locations. A project team led by the vice governor was established to discuss future initiatives.
The prefecture said that the number of business locations in Shizuoka remained among the top 5 nationwide from 2000 through 2024, but fell to 39 in 2025, ranking 6th nationwide. The shortage of industrial land was cited as one cause.
The meeting confirmed that the team, led by Vice Governor Hiraki (平木), would work with each department to strengthen attraction activities and develop industrial parks, with the aim of increasing the number of business locations.
The future policy also includes strengthening attraction activities, including top-level sales efforts by Governor Suzuki (鈴木).
