豊通保険パートナーズ, a wholly owned subsidiary of Toyota Tsusho Corporation that operates insurance agencies, announced that it would acquire Komatsu-affiliated Komatsu Corporate Services. The move comes against a backdrop of expectations that restructuring will accelerate as regulations on the insurance agency industry are tightened.
豊通保険パートナーズ announced on the 1st that it would acquire Komatsu Corporate Services. This is expected to bring the operation of in-house corporate insurance agencies under the Toyotsu Group’s integrated management.
The insurance agency industry is expected to undergo restructuring due to labor shortages and the impact of tighter Financial Services Agency regulations, with the special measures expected to be abolished from fiscal 2029 onward. Abolition of the special measures could expand the scope of regulations limiting the proportion of agencies within corporate groups.
Established in 2006, 豊通保険パートナーズ serves customers including Toyota Motor and Denso, and operates insurance agency and insurance brokerage businesses in Japan and overseas. Completion of the transfer is scheduled for January 2027.
Takehisa Banno (伴野 剛久), executive managing director, said that, against a backdrop of declining commission income and tighter regulations, “the number of buyers will be narrowed down to around several companies nationwide, and we would like to undertake more than 10 M&A transactions annually going forward.”
