Tsuda Shokai, the authorised distributor in Japan of Ocean Bottle, a UK-based B Corp-certified bottle brand, has begun accepting orders for personalised bottles from companies and organisations. The initiative involves supporting the recovery of approximately 11.4 kg of plastic that would otherwise flow into the ocean for each bottle purchased.
Tsuda Shokai, Ocean Bottle's authorised distributor in Japan, announced that it had begun accepting orders for personalised bottles from the UK-based Ocean Bottle. In the UK, more than 2,000 companies worldwide have adopted personalised bottles, while adoption in Japan has also begun, primarily among local governments.
Ocean Bottle operates a system called “1 for 1000”, under which the purchase of one bottle supports the recovery of approximately 11.4 kg of plastic at risk of entering the ocean, equivalent to approximately 1,000 PET bottles. Recovery is carried out in cooperation with partners including Plastic Bank and Plastics for Change, and also contributes to increasing the income of people involved in collection work.
As an example of adoption in Japan, personalised Ocean Bottles were selected for the promotion of reusable bottle use accompanying Imizu City's declaration as a Zero Carbon City in Toyama Prefecture. Personalised bottles can help companies and organisations communicate the impact of their initiatives in numerical terms, with distribution to employees and use as promotional giveaways among the suggested applications.
Personalised bottles are available with either laser engraving or UV printing, and can be delivered in as little as approximately 1 month after submission of the design data. Applicants are instructed to contact [email protected].
