TOENEC has installed approximately 1 kW of perovskite solar cells under development at its Kuragaike Park facility in Toyota City and begun demonstration testing. The demonstration is scheduled to run from fiscal 2026 through fiscal 2028, covering validation of power-generation characteristics, changes over time and installation methods.
TOENEC has installed approximately 1 kW of perovskite solar cells under development by AISIN on the rooftop of the Playhouse in Kuragaike Park, Toyota City, and begun demonstration testing. Two installation methods will be used, perimeter fencing and ground-mounted foundation frames. The system is designed to connect in parallel with the existing solar cells, with the aim of operating both systems simultaneously for power generation. The demonstration will also assess the potential for installation on buildings, taking advantage of the cells' light and thin form factor. The demonstration is scheduled to run from fiscal 2026 through fiscal 2028.
The demonstration will include remote monitoring of power-generation data and maintenance and management through on-site inspections, as well as evaluation of power-generation characteristics and changes over time. Chubu Electric Power will be responsible for data evaluation, while Chubu Electric Power Miraiz will promote the demonstration and coordinate the overall validation process. Toyota City will provide the demonstration field and consider measures to promote wider adoption.
The demonstration is positioned as part of Aichi Prefecture's project to expand the adoption of perovskite solar cells and was selected as an initiative of the Aichi Perovskite Solar Cell Promotion Council.
