Global Offshore Wind Summit - Japan 2026, one of Japan’s largest offshore wind events, was held from 13 to 15 October at Dejima Messe Nagasaki in Nagasaki City. The event was hosted by the Japan Wind Power Association and the Global Wind Energy Council, attracting a total of 1,041 visitors from 29 countries.
The event featured keynote speeches and panel discussions on offshore wind policy, port infrastructure development and supply chain development, while 32 companies and organizations exhibited booths, exceeding the previous year’s figure. Fukuoka Kokei (福岡 功慶), Director of the Wind Power Project Promotion Office, New Energy Division, Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, said that institutional reform and project development were progressing.
The industrial strategy for floating offshore wind emphasized cooperation based not on Japan acting alone but on collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting expectations for a hub connecting Japan with Europe and Asia. A forum to promote business exchange between regions was also held for the first time during the event.
In line with the government’s policy direction and growth strategy, a policy was presented to develop projects totaling 30–45 million kilowatts, including floating offshore wind. It was announced that next year’s Global Offshore Wind Summit would be held in Yokohama on 9–10 September 2027.
