On 14 September, Nissin Foods announced that its “Nissin Fukkura Kamadaki Gohan” had obtained certification under the Japan Disaster Food certification system administered by the Japan Disaster Food Society. The certification number is S00355, and the product is intended to ensure a stable food supply during disasters.
The product can be eaten 5 minutes after boiling water is added and can be stored at room temperature for 1 year. It can also be prepared with water, rather than only boiling water, in approximately 30–60 minutes, making it suitable for use as an emergency stockpile even when electricity or gas supplies have been disrupted.
Through obtaining the certification, Nissin Foods aims to contribute to improving food stockpiles at households and local governments and to addressing food-related challenges during disasters.
