Comments that the hot-water faucet at Kappa Sushi was “too dirty to use” spread on social media, prompting operator Kappa Create to explain that it would enforce cleaning rules, including daily cleaning of hot-water outlets, and inspect all stores.
On 8 October, a post on Threads pointing out that the hot-water faucet at Kappa Sushi was dirty drew attention. The post included a photo of the faucet, which was viewed as having significant limescale buildup.
The poster did not identify the store, but concerns about store hygiene and comments saying “I don’t want to go” followed one after another. Kappa Create, which operates Kappa Sushi, was asked to verify the facts and respond.
The company officially stated that it took seriously the fact that the issue in question represented a significant departure from its cleaning standards, and outlined a policy of enforcing cleaning procedures, including for hot-water outlets, at all stores. It said that inspections and cleaning at all stores were under way and that it would reinforce compliance with its cleaning rules.
