Shin-Nihonkai Shimbunsha revamped Net Nihonkai, a news site centered on its Paper Viewer. The homepage design was completely renewed, with an expanded selection of the latest local news and a new format that brings news of interest together under “Topics.”
“Topics” was added as a new feature, allowing users to quickly follow subjects of interest such as elections, personnel changes and high school baseball. Related news is consolidated for busy users. A new Clip feature also allows users to save news to My Page.
The Paper Viewer’s archive period was expanded from 1 week to 2 weeks. The Paper Viewer is available on Net Nihonkai and the smartphone app, and regular subscribers can use it at no additional charge. Users can now view 2 weeks of past newspaper editions.
Users are advised that registration is required to access the site. Free members can read up to 2 newsletter articles and paid articles per month. The digital-only plan costs ¥2,600 per month and primarily provides digital delivery of local news.
Nihonkai Shimbun subscribers may be eligible to use the Home Delivery Plus plan at no additional charge and, in some cases, access 2 weeks of the Paper Viewer free of charge.
