In European markets, USD/JPY struggled to gain, with its upside capped toward the evening, and then continued to track movements in yen crosses. There was also speculation that a slight rise in the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield prompted dollar buying.
In European market trading, USD/JPY fell to 158.04 after rising, then recovered to around 158.20. Yen crosses also remained soft, leaving the dollar generally on the weak side. The trading ranges so far were 158.04 to 158.41 for USD/JPY, 177.30 to 177.86 for EUR/JPY, and 1.1216 to 1.1236 for EUR/USD.
As background, a slight rise in the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield was reported to have prompted dollar buying, with speculation that major currencies weakened against the dollar.
