Tokyo stocks are expected to consolidate on the 6th following the previous day's decline, with US market trends, earnings announcements and foreign-exchange movements expected to remain key cues.
Tokyo stocks are expected to move into consolidation on the 6th following the previous day's decline, with the expected range set at ¥65,500 to ¥66,650. The Dow set a new record high in the US market, while the Nasdaq Composite and SOX declined, prompting expectations that selling will lead in AI-related and semiconductor stocks. SanDisk's July–September sales outlook falling below market expectations could also become a concern. The dollar is trading around ¥157.50 and the euro in the lower ¥182 range, with both currencies showing little movement.
Domestic earnings announcements are also entering their peak period, and buying interest is expected to focus on companies reporting strong results. ADRs for Kioxia, Sumitomo Electric, Fujikura and others are at levels below their previous closing prices when converted into yen. The Nikkei 225 futures settlement price was slightly lower than the Osaka Exchange close, and domestic market trends are expected to continue being influenced by US market developments.
