シムトップス announced an initiative in 高見澤’s Food Segment to digitize on-site forms using i-Reporter and automatically enter data such as best-before dates in the Cheese Division using EdgeOCR. This has reduced labor hours and the workload involved in the processes.
The i-Reporter on-site forms system was introduced in the Food Segment of 高見澤, which is based in Nagano Prefecture, to digitize manufacturing records and inventory and shipping management forms. Following an organizational restructuring aimed at cross-functional integration and standardization, adoption expanded from the Cheese Division to the segment as a whole.
In the Cheese Division at the Komoro Plant, the need to eliminate duplicate work involving approximately 40 handwritten daily reports per day and PC data entry had become an issue. The introduction of i-Reporter enabled the digitization of daily manufacturing reports and automated data entry into the core system. The optional EdgeOCR function is used to read labels and printed text and automatically record the results on the forms.
The introduction of EdgeOCR combined the automatic entry of best-before dates with formula checks, reducing input errors and the burden of verification work. As a result, work time was reportedly reduced to less than half. The initiative has also been expanded to the Fresh Produce Sales Division, covering inventory management, shipping management and other processes.
The rollout across the organization has accelerated through the “Improvement Awards” system for improvement proposals. Currently, 108 types of forms have been defined across the Food Segment, enabling daily records to be aggregated automatically, and annual labor-hour savings have reached approximately 240 hours.
