Tokuma Shoten announced unauthorized access by a third party to the GoodsPress Web test environment. The unauthorized creation of administrator accounts and page tampering were confirmed. Information on a total of 103 article-writing contributors potentially affected may have been viewed.
Tokuma Shoten announced on 26 October that it had confirmed unauthorized access to the GoodsPress Web test environment. It was found that a third party had created administrator accounts without authorization and tampered with pages.
The potentially affected information comprises the names, nicknames and email addresses of 103 individual business operators and business partners registered for accounts in the test environment.
As a temporary measure, the company blocked the attack route, suspended the unauthorized accounts and took the tampered pages offline on 22 October. It shut down the test-environment server at 7:50 p.m.
The company said it will strengthen the proper management of personal information and information security measures going forward.
