The 48th WorldSkills Competition is an international competition in which young skilled professionals from around the world compete. This year’s event was held in Shanghai, and the Unmanned Aircraft Systems occupation was newly established. Japan had not previously had a competitor place in the competition. The event ran from 22 to 27 September 2026, with approximately 1,400 competitors and top participants from 11 countries and regions.
Nagao Riku (長尾陸) is affiliated with MIRAIT ONE Corporation Group company ミラテクドローン and trained for the competition under the guidance of Matsui Ryusei (松井流星). The competition comprised 6 tasks. Nagao received a standardized score of 715 points and won a Medal for Excellence, finishing 4 points short of the 719 points required for the bronze medal.
Nagao’s award was made possible with support from companies in Japan’s drone technology sector and other organizations. Going forward, the company plans to develop talent for the 49th WorldSkills Competition in 2028 and apply its knowledge to drone-related businesses and human-resource development.
Through the development of Nagao’s skills, MIRAIT ONE Corporation aims to develop young talent and help create a sustainable society as part of its efforts to promote digital transformation and the use of green energy through technology and challenge.
