YUASA, which aims to create more walkable communities, is participating in social experiments in Shizuoka and Osaka. It will test a stay-and-gather space using a range of outdoor furniture at Fujieda Station Plaza and trial the creation of a people-centered street space as part of the Midosuji Challenge.
YUASA is participating in social experiments in Fujieda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and Midosuji, Osaka City, aimed at creating rich urban spaces centered on pedestrians as part of efforts to create more walkable communities. The experiments will use the company's outdoor furniture to compare patterns of space use and assess the effects of design.
In Fujieda City, a range of outdoor furniture will be installed at Fujieda Station Plaza, and a study will compare its use with that of permanent benches. The results are expected to measure the effects on activity and interaction in the station-front space and be used in the municipality's future planning.
In Osaka City's Midosuji district, the company will participate in the Midosuji Challenge and work with Kyoto University's Landscape Design Laboratory to analyze the factors that encourage people to stop and stay longer. The event will run from 6 to 8 November, with YUASA products exhibited from 7 to 8 November.
Going forward, the company intends to strengthen its solutions by providing integrated support from furniture selection and supply through spatial design and impact measurement, using insights from the experiments to help create more vibrant communities.
