8 Ukrainian children who evacuated to the Czech Republic because of Russia’s full-scale invasion visited Kobe and interacted with Japanese students.
The children received explanations of exhibits displayed at the Ukrainian booth at the Osaka Expo and interacted with students from Kobe Gakuin University through games and other activities designed to deepen mutual understanding of each other’s cultures.
The children spoke about their long-term displacement, saying, “We haven’t seen our families for nearly 5 years” and “We worry because missiles are flying every day,” and expressed their hope of returning home in peace.
The visit took place amid expectations of long-term support from Japan.
